Ugh… I’m not sure what to think now.. I wish I can strangle Light for the most part. The other Kira is not much of somone either… turns out to be a ditz. Not sure if something more sinister is up her sleeve.. but right now they’re boyfriend and girlfriend…

Death Note: Episode 12
In Episode 11, there was an introduction to a second Kira and now in Episode 12, you get introduced to Misa and her Shinigami Rem. I kinda deduced wrong for how she got Shinigami eyes when they mentioned how she got her Death Note from another Shinigami. I learned how to kill a Shinigami in this episode. Not that I think much of the reasoning.
Seems too hard to accomplish, when they mention that a Death God would have to fall in love with a human and then rescue them from certain death instead of taking their lives as a Death God’s purpose to live. Surmising that situation, I imagine that’s how Misa got the Death Note as Jealousy gave the powers of Death Note to her on a platter with Rem being the messenger. Jealousy reminds me of a sniveling coward… Pettigrew if you would picture when I saw it.
Certainly Misa is a new character, but I still don’t know what to think about her. How old is she and why the hell does she act so bubbly. Under that exterior I sense a more cunning and evilness to her.
The fake Kira (Misa) sent a tape to the police wanting to meet the real Kira (Light) without any police interference. I think that upon meeting each other, there would possibly be indications of wanting to steal each other’s Death Note to have more power. The implications are quite clear as Rem adomishes Misa for thinking that he/she would fall in love with her and then with Light’s speech in the end to kill the fake Kira, if he/she gets caught in a police plan?
Several thoughts about this episode… is there a gender for the Shinigami… hearing the seiyuu, I wonder if it’s a guy or a girl. I deduce guy.. but still have to wonder are Shinigami genderless? Another thought… would Misa fall for Light? I also think that Light doesn’t think much of the fake Kira. Also that situation where L was frighten of Shinigamis… does that hint something of L’s past or for future reference?
For a more complete summary of the episode and screeencaps.. go here. In moments like this I think I’m good a writing rambling thoughts, but if you want straight summary. Please go there.. since it’s a great anime review blog.

Death Note: Episode 5-11 and Movie
I’m really behind in watching this series. In the mean while I have also watched the first live action movie of Death Note. It is as I saw it in both sequences. I liked the scene where the police met L for the first time.. but I don’t like Light’s arrogance. In some perspectives you can imagine him as an antagonoist while L is the protagonist, but on the flip side.. would it be like that ethical view of Hammurabi’s Code or as Exodus 21:23-27 as they indicate of letting proper punishment fit the crime?
Episode 8 was quite interesthing, surveillance on Light’s house and the fact that he threw out an expensive camera is something. Personally, I’m still trying to come to grips with a holiday spotaneous decision of a new laptop purchase I made with my friend. But back to Death Note, at this part of the anime as well as other parts, I think this is where the fiction comes in. Would someone in reality really second guess all of each others actions… and then in order to continue a facade, do all these other actions to write with both hands? It was quite funny to see Ryuk’s withdrawal symtoms as to not be able to eat apples. Hmm.. upside down..
Still as Episode 9 progresses, this is where the live action movie differs… there was more emphasis placed on the FBI agent and his girlfriend in the movie, but they are minor victims in the anime. I would think as L said, where Light thinks of himself as god, then it also should be as Ryuk would say, that he himself would take Light’s life in the end. There’s no possible way that the series would end in one where Light’s real idenity as the Kira is made to the police without lessening the quality of the plot. Still I think that is why I see a girl on the covers on the Death Note manga in later. I’ll see her soon and perhaps she will change the story to make it malleable.
Still I was very surprised to see L actually taking the same exams and entering the same college as Light. How old is he? If he did assist with the American FBI, then does that mean that he was very young when he became a police officer….? Still kinda strange for his actions.
In looking at Light and Ryuga.. (is that his real name? So many alias)… Like Jekeyll and Hyde, on the flip side and then some….
I guess I got my answer for who the mysterious girl is… a second Kira and this one with Shinigami eyes, she actually took the offer where as Light refused.. interesthing.

Death Note: Episode 4
At the begining there was a mention of hell, where other Shinigami asked where Ryuk was. This made me wonder whether or not Light will ever meet the Shinigami or will they appear on Earth.
Still I’m starting to get pissed off by Light’s high and mighty arrogance…as he rejects the eyes of Shinigami because he wants to create a new world without criminals and then rule over it. Does that implies that he wants wealth beyond belief or did the fact that once he uses up the Death Note then Ryuk will leave go over his head? Grrrr…
Either way starting since last spisode, Ryuk noticed that someone was shadowing Light and it is this episode that Light finds out who was shadowing him. Ray Penbar, an FBI agent.
When Light said that he will be next to die, other than my usual dislike of his character. I find that this is eerily similar and comparative to the general dissent and ill will toward the government from advocates for privacy. When President Bush pass the Patriot Act. There was also a stipulation into anyone’s loss of privacy. The govenrment monitors any citizens of supsicious activity. Thus what Light said, can very well be an extremem situation where people can control actions of what is to be committed to punish others.
Similarily what can be the under basics of when Light’s father called Kira’s actions unforgivable? This is a very askew sense of justice… since the people dying are all criminals, and they must under the current justice system also be treated equally as humans with rights regardless of their actions at the time they committed their crime – may it be rape or burglaroy. But then again, what does Light’s father know that Light now. As it appears now, the father is only a pawn and therfore ignorant of Kira’s actions… as a chess match is going underway.. hmm that’ll be interesthing to see, Kira and L both playing a chest match against each other with Kira meaning Light holding a pawn piece….

Death Note: Episode 3
Now even if I has said to my friends I wasn’t really interested in this series….this episode might change my mind. The action has picked up and there were new clues given that explained certain things, ie – the red eyes of Light in the OP/ED. No wonder my friend is so intrigued by this series. I certainly know that she like Shonen Jump series.
As a recap from last episode, L and Kira faced off to say that they’ll kill each other in the end if they find each other. After that recap, at the first part of this series is an NPA meeting with L in the back on a laptop watching a video conference of this meeting. Many useless calls have been made to the police on their search into this case, but L deducts that from the killings of the criminals. Kira must be a student.
A surprise is discovered, for the father of Light is the head investigator at the NPA. Quite intriguing, as this is how Light stays ahead of the NPA. He formulates and more criminals die, most of the men that die now are convicts in jails. This leads to L deducing that someone from within the NPA knows of their investigations. It is this part that the story gets juicy.
Light mentions how few people trust each other in human society. While this is a very cynical view, it is a honest one. For it is true that in life, you can’t really trust anyone, so that they’ll know everything that you’re feeling. Like a poker match, you can’t let others know of your hand or they’ll gain ahead. There is much sociological deviance issues mention that my educaiton in sociology gets tickled. Even if I’m never seriously going to get into sociology as a career, the deviance and psychology themes is really good.
Then just as I was thinking to myself, how this anime is intriguing. I find myself becoming more intrigued. It appears that Ryuk’s even more of a shingami than I was led to believe. My experiences in Shinigamis have always been quite cheerful like with Botan in Yu Yu Hakusho or Hotaru in Sailor Moon. Now Ryuk had to drop a big thing, he mentions that with all the name Light was putting into Death Note, the souls condemmed give the Shingami’s extra lifespans, so that is what makes them immoral. The difference between their age of death and their predestined lifespan adds more years to the Shinigami, like if the man dies at 40 and has a lifespan of 60 then it is 20 more years for the death god.
Furthermore, Ryuk states that as a Shinigami, he is not on any side of Kira or L. He doesn’t care, for as long as the Death Note is filled, then he will be satisfied. He also mentions a crucial exhange between the Shinigami and the person holding the Death Note. For half of the human’s own lifespan, the Shinigamil will exchange their eyes. This is such a devious and twisted exchange, that if you’re really wanting to kill yourself, this is the anime to watch and be awed over.
There was an abundance of church music in this one… as one with horror and thrilling background, definitely is a thumbs up for my part to it being great in music.

Death Note: Episode 2
Well after a weekend of just downloding it and finding it didn’t work on my laptop…. I went an downloaded another version of this episode. I decided to blog this series for a bit more.. since Aya asked me to and because I don’t want to disappoint.. here’s my viewpoint of this episode.
When the opening popped up… as it did in first episode.. and I have to say I like the rockish quality of the song. While the opening is not like X… there’s still a nice quality to it. Then when it mentions the name of the anime: Death Note, they have the same logo as they did for the manga.. and seeing the distinct style of the series reminds me of watching anime like One Piece or Sailor Moon. They all have a distinct look, so that any fan can recongize which series is nice.
Anyhow I saw that there is 37 episodes planned for this series…. I worry about the implications for this because if they only had 12 mangas in the series.. then there is bound to be some fillers… maybe they’ll make the fillers not as bad as the other fillers I saw? Possibility is there..
This episode began with a recap from episode 1 and throughout the actions of this episode something really had me wanting me to punch Light. He acts quite obnoxious… granted he is a really smart guy and all for studying… The implications he made when he said that he is justice and all for a pure world really has me thinking: is there something like that in this world?
Quite foolish, but then I’m reminded that Shonen Jump caters to guys, hence there is the reasoning why Light acts the way he is. Guys, actually do have this mentality when they’re young to be the superhero….. well I can’t attest to it knowing myself, but watching kids near me play swordsmaster has me thinking that boys will enjoy this series.
The actions that Light did to punish criminals actually made the news and so the police with the Interpol is cooperating to catch the criminal, or Kira….. who would commit murder just like that…. so they don’t believe that it is health, but a person out there.
I question Light’s sanity at the point when he accepts the challenge from L. During the actions of this episode is the reason why I wouldn’t like the series from the beginning. So to actually give that much power to one person, is an implication that POWER CORRUPTS!
People get introduced to “L” in this series. The next episode begins the hunt.
This picture is the manga representations of Light with the yellow hair and L with the black hair. Ryuk’s in the background with some other monsters that I don’t know of yet.

Death Note: Episode 1
While I’m not as big of a fan for this series as my friend is. I decided to write an entry on what I know about it and becuase she made a request. I’m sure she’ll comment… *hint, hint – nudge, nudge*
Death Note is a new popular series, which Shonen Jump has released the 12 volumes in this short manga series. There was a live action movie over the summer and this fall, they have an anime series. I’ll definitely watch the series, since there is an anime version. I can’t get into the manga as much without liking the anime first.
I watched the first episode and had some mixed feelings about it. For one thing I like the BGM.. sounds, so church like. The episode begins with mentioning about the Shinigami world – Death Gods, then it flashes over to the real world.. where there is the introduction of the main character for the series: Light. He’s a high school honor student, with the normal angst of teenagers.
Everyday there is news of death and evil rampant around the world. He was thinking about this and just wondering how boring life is when he finds a notebook. With instructions written in English, about using the book- basically this is writing in a name and that targeted name will be dead in about a minute after their names are written.
I actually chuckled of the fact that the instructions were in English, this emphasizes for me that the langauge has actually became the lingua franca of the world… or so as Ryuk states, “The most popular language in the World.”
So Light tries this book out and is surprised to see it work. He writes names down until one night, Ryuk a death god comes to his house. He had dropped the book and Light picked it up. In their initial conversation, a partnership is born as I would imagine, both of them being bored and wanting to find something interested. So they would be naming themselves justice bearers so to speak.
As I said there are mixed feelings I feel about watching this series. I will continue to watch the series, but don’t really watch it with the same anticipation as I feel for other series I like. Another factor is that, I think this is a pretty depressing and dark series.I don’t like the idea of people out to play god, for while humans act a certain way, what makes them live and tick is not for anyone to decide.
I wonder at Ryuk’s real intentions, other than the fact that he is a Death God, I have a feeling that he loves to look at death and blood. After all he dropped the Death Note book to be found by Light. He actually mentions to Light that there’s no current physical price to pay for using the book, then it would be only the guilty mental feelings that the user of the book will have. But then he had to go and warn of fact that when the user dies, they will not see either heaven or hell.. so does that mean that the User will become a Shinigami?
I probably contradict myself when I actually say that watching this episode actually made me yearn and hope to watch Jigoku Shoujo soon. That other series has a similar concept to Death Note.
Beneath is a picture of Light and Ryuk.
