Black Lagoon: Episode 6

November 12, 2006 Leave a comment

People might feel bored by my blog because this is a majority of my entries. Can’t help it if this is the only anime I actually feel caught by…. this anime is actually quite funny in some parts.

The Chinese lady bounty hunter died I think, shot by Edna….. I was actually attracted to her character in spite of her horrible Mandarin, that’s what you get if you’re not Chinese yourself and only acting it.

Still this episode was filled with much action and clue revealers for character backgrounds. Edna’s acutally CIA, wonder how this will put her against Levy and the Black Lagoon. Oh and Benny has a love interest, or maybe one night stand with Jane. Hehe..

Then there are the prominent singling out of certain villians that won’t die. They’re kinda bad, but not really just life’s circumstances. Still next episode they’re going to maybe more on Rock’s background?

Black Lagoon: Episode 5

November 11, 2006 2 comments

Didn’t really talk much about the ending of the last episode, but Edna and Levy introduces Jane to a cheap motel to stay at, the cincher though is the fact that every bounty hunter will be after Jane’s head when Mr. Elvis hires them at a $1000 a hunter to complete this job of bringing back Jane.

This episode starts with Edna, Levy and Rock waiting for Jane in a car. Edna already thought that this would happen so she left signs for Jane to escape from death. Well Jane gets chased and the other bounty hunters realize that Edna and Levy are helping Jane, so they upped the cost to $30,000 a head for the chase.

Nothing really siginficiant happened in this episode that really had me as excited as last episode.. although I feel that with the art being not up to par, what I like about the art is the stark realistic feel of it… so I did some screen caps of some parts I felt really liking for.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex – Solid State Society

November 6, 2006 1 comment

After an inital manga that was made into a much loved movie classic, I like this a whole heck of a lot better than Akira. Ghost in the Shell came out with a fantastic second movie and two seasons of an Anime version. The most recent release of this highly popular series is the Stand Along Complex Movie.

The events in Stand Alone Complex is an alternate universe to the 1994 and 2004 movies of Ghost in a Shell. In looking at Solid State Society, I really feel that there was a comparision to the 1994 movie, same villain names and references to Motoko’s quest to find the truth behind the net. News have been released that this is not the end for the Ghost in the Shell series, since it’s very popular….

Still I would love to see the day that Motoko and Batou get together, once again they are dropping clues and hints at the romance. Even in the Special of Innoence, they mentioned that this is the most ideal of romance, even if Motoko and Batou being nearly Cyborgs.

There was a scene in Solid State Society that actually reminded me of Matrix the movie, when the children are abducted, or how computers can actually wipe out people’s memeories.

Now if you’re confused by what the heck I’m writing around, I do that a lot. This is on the assumption that you even know somewhat of what I see. The general plot is told here.

The music for the series is by the impeccable Yoko Kanno…and the art is quite nice. This movie is not schedule to be release in the U.S. until 2007.

Black Lagoon: Episode 4

Just after a week of worrying how they will catch up with the storyline and after a friend told me the art was terrible for this series. I am once again feeling quite overwhelemed by this series.. this is soooo cool!!!!!!!!!!! Or feeling soo cul as Arale would say.

Even if the translations might not exactly mean what they’re saying, but the words definitely fit the subs. The dialogue is quite dynamic. Jane, a new character, was chased by a mob, went to claim sanctuary at the church and when she reach Eda’s church. (Eda’s an asassin like Levy, but also has the double role of being a sister for the Catholic chruch.)

Eda didn’t want to help Jane and said that God was in Vegas, so that Jane should come back on Judgement Day… Now the reason why Jane was chased is that she didn’t deliver on what she was comissioned for, counterifeit money for them. So the mob felt cheated and wants to demand compensation.

The mob reached the church and the leader of the mob, a Mr. Elvis fired a shot that went through the church door. At front of the alter, Levy was sitting and holding a glass of whiskey. The bullet shattered her cup and she became pissed off.

I watched as another shoot out scene occurs and I was like O_O. The shooting scenes may get redudent, just the antagonist shooting at the protagonists, but at moments like this I feel like a kid playing with action figures. Black Lagoon is a pretty violent anime, but still very cool. What an influence on people’s minds right? I can’t stand watching violence in real life, but give me an anime and I’m happy as a pie.
