One Piece -Recap of Episodes 313-319

Okay, pretty much been a bit to busy to even take the time as I had last semester to write on One Piece, so I shall do a quick review/impression of the episodes.

To summarize, these episodes with the exception of 314, is pretty much fillers until I believe 320. To make a long story short.. I find myself enjoying the fillers of Bleach, more than this – although One Piece is still good in a slow about way.

I’m pretty anxious for the Florian Triangle arc to begin…

Episode 313-Disturbed Peace! The Marine Vice-Admiral with the Fist of Love
Well everyone is recuperating at Water 7 while it recovers from the Aqua Laguna. Kokoro was visiting with Yokozuna, Chimney and Gonbe. They think that Luffy is awake when in realty he is still sleeping as he eats.

One of the big facts in this episode was the statement of Franky’s dream. He had needed 200 million berri to buy a legendary wood- Adam – from this type of wood he would build a ship. This, he would give to the Mugiwara. Gold Roger sailed on a ship made from the same material. The episode ends with the appearance of Vice-Admiral Garp.

Episode 314- The Ultimate Lineage? Luffy’s Father Revealed!
Luffy was awaken rather painfully from his grandfather – Vice-Admiral Monkey D. Garp. Sanji questioned Luffy on why would it hurt since he was a rubber man, punches shouldn’t hurt. However, Garp calls it a fist of love, so it would and should hurt.

Luffy is pretty scared of his grandfather, so he tells the other Mugiwara to don’t attack Garp. Then he gets into a long standing argument with the vice-admiral about his dream of becoming a pirate, when it was apparently Garp’s intention after tossing him into countless ravines, jungles and into the sky with balloons to train him to become a proficient marine. Garp blames it on the influence of Shanks. So they were arguing and suddenly they fell asleep. Possibly a characteristics of the family, since it is similar to how Ace falls asleep into his food. After beating Luffy again for his rudeness towards him, Garp reveals a bit more information on the level of Pirate that Shanks is at.

Anyhow this episode had the appearance of Coby and Helmeppo, who were training with Garp. Luffy and Zoro who came back from town didn’t recognized who Helmeppo is while they were very surprised at the appearance of Coby. But a fact even more amazing occurred, Garp mentions about the identity of Luffy’s father and how Luffy had met him in Lougetown, when he saw them off. Monkey D. Dragon – a revolutionary…. meaning a force that was very similar to what Kohza in Alabasta was doing, which was gathering forces to overthrow the monarchies. This shocked everyone present until Garp told them all to forget about it…. but it’s it’s a pretty amazing end to an amazing episode.

Episode 315-As for the name: New World! Whereabouts of a great route
This episode had the departure of Garp and his ship, after Luffy had a pretty long informative talk with Koby and Helmeppo. Luffy, and Nami who was spying on the conversation found out the identity of a Marine scientist – Dr. Vengapunk who created a covering for the ship to safely pass in and out of the Grand Line through the Calm Belt without passing through Reverse Mountain. Vengapunk also identifies the devil fruits pros/cons of a particular user.

A very useful piece of information that Coby spoke about is the name of where One Piece is known as the New World, meaning where the Pirate King would usher in a new World era. (The Pirate Age came with Gold D. Roger.) The ending of this episode started the celebration of the entire Water 7 island in a large fiesta hosted by the Mugiwara.

Aokiji also came to speak with Robin, he told her of his background friendship with Saul and then ending the conversation by stating that he will not capture Robin at the moment as he has watched over her for years, deciding to let her live now that she found a place she can belong to.

Episode 316- Shanks moves! The wedge into the times when it drives recklessly
I can say that this episode can be separated into three parts. First part had a continuation from 315’s big fiesta, the second which is the title bearer – with Shanks finally meeting Whitebeard. I wonder if Whitebeard is by anyway related the the giants. He’s quite huge. I don’t know what my impression of Ace’s captain is… but I am quite leery of Whitebeard. Anyhow Shanks and Whitebeard were talking about Blackbeard, which no good can come of it.

The third part being back in Water 7, Tom’s Workers join up with Franky in making the Mugiwara’s new boat, which would be Thousand Sunny. Another minor part that occurred in the third part was also Nami’s realization that with the W7’s large fiesta – the Mugiwara is dead broke and out of the 100 million berri they had from Skypia.

Episode 317 – The Yagara-Searching Girl! The Great Investigation in the Water Metropolis.
This episode was kinda sad with Abi searching for her Yagara, who has obviously passed away during the Aqua Laguna. What was neat about this episode was how Robin used her powers to look all around Water 7, scaring the daylights out of every townspeople. This episode was also interesting in talking about the mode of transportation in Water 7. Reminds me of the plushie that I saw at Otakon.

Episode 318-The Mother is Strong! Zoro’s Slapstick Housework Help
Zoro in this episode got conned by the kids who helped him with directions at episode 314 into being figuratively adopted by their foster mother. I didn’t think that this episode was that impressive, other than showing what Zoro was doing, I was a little tickled when Zoro shouted back Sanji’s expression of him as marimo (moss ball) when the mother called him a broccoli head. I didn’t like how the mother of the family treated Zoro like an errant son, but I guess this is episode has the message that unlikely families can form even without having a blood bond.

Episode 319- Sanji’s Shock! The Mysterious Grandpa and His Incredibly Delicious Cooking.
From the previews of episode 318, I had thought that this episode would be similar to when Sanji faced off against Carmen back in Loguetown. But the episode was quite different… Sanji got stuck with Chimney and Gonbe, while he brought food supplies. Then he met this old man who actually recognizes Sanji as Zeff’s apprentice. Actually he calls Zeff a kid, Sanji was shocked by this, but as he talks with the cook, his belief in All Blue is renewed making him not regret the fact of joining up with the Mugiwara.

The old gramps though, cooks a fried rice dish for Sanji. Sanji then spent this episode looking for the ingredient that made the simple dish delicious and in the end found out that it was the salt from the sea water of Aqua Laguna. On the rooftop of every Water 7 building is salt. This is what makes a very skillful cook stay in a small place like Water 7, the existence of a wonderful ingredient. The episode ended with the Mugiwara crew enjoying a pasta dish made with Water 7’s salt. There was no preview though, so what a crushing ending to this episode.. however it make the anticipation for 320 grows.. which is airing on August 19! Arggg!!!!!
