Release of J.K. Rowling’s “The Tales of Beedle the Bard”

July 31, 2008 1 comment

Oh my.. well what have we have here.. I was looking at my mailbox today and guess.. what… “The Tales of Beedle the Bard” on sale by Amazon and what price differences there is!

Now I will probably read this book, but it has rode on the hype of being the book after J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. From that Lexicon court case that she was invovled in.. (sighs)…. I remember how that librarian fan cried.

Still a whopping $100 for the collector’s to the $7.59 paperback mass market copy.. is there even such a discrepancy? I mean how can there not be a standard hardcover copy? I wonder how fans would react?

Six more voice actor guests for Otakon© 2008

Taliesin Jaffe
Voice Actor/ADR Director
A native Californian, Taliesin Jaffe took advantage of his proximity to the entertainment industry at an early age, and has been involved with several major productions to date. A veritable Renaissance man of anime production, chances are he’s worked in some capacity on the English-language version of your favorite FUNimation title.

Although he’s usually behind-the-scenes directing or writing, he’s also loaned his voice to many supporting roles in series such as Hellsing, Hellsing Ultimate, Neon Genesis Evangelion, R.O.D. The TV Series, and Paranoia Agent, among others. He’s currently working with FUNimation on Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad, and with New Generation Pictures on Hellsing Ultimate and R.O.D. The TV.

Laura Bailey
Voice Actor
Her versatile and expressive voice has made her a huge success, and we’re pleased to welcome actress Laura Bailey to Otakon for the first time! With several leading roles to her credit, Ms. Bailey is one of the most recognizable voices in the industry at the moment.

If you haven’t heard her as “Chi Chi” in Dragonball or “Shin” in Shin Chan, then you’ve probably heard her performance as “Lust” in Fullmetal Alchemist or “Tohru Honda” in Fruits Basket also be heard in Hellsing, Lupin the 3rd, Case Closed, Code Geass, Naruto, Negima, and many, many other titles. As if that wasn’t enough, she has also loaned her vocal talent to several video games, most notably the role of “Rayne” in Bloodrayne 1 and 2.

It’s likely that Tony Oliver was working on anime before you were born. His resumé spans many diverse and well-loved roles and series from the past several years – and we’re pleased to be able to welcome him to his first Otakon!

From the title role in Lupin the 3rd: The Movie – The Secret of Mamo to Robotech’s “Rick Hunter” to “Sorata Arisugawa” in the X TV series, Mr. Oliver’s career includes a part in just about every genre – including sentai (he was the voice of “Saba,” the White Ranger’s talking saber in Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers)! In addition to those, however, Mr. Oliver can be heard in Last Exile, Rurouni Kenshin, Bleach, Lucky Star, Eyeshield 21, Wolf’s Rain and Mahoromatic, among others.

Cowboy Bebop live action…

July 23, 2008 Leave a comment

I just heard the news and I can say that this movie would be probably better as a live action than DBZ is turning out to be… wonder who would be on the cast… However I don’t really like Fox’s record with making movies.. I was so disappointed by X-Men.. not sure now.

Galileo Movie Theme and Info..

July 22, 2008 4 comments

I was reading one of my blogs on Japanese entertainment and got the tidbit for this information. I really like parts to of the drama, save the ending, so I’ll be pretty happy to see this movie.

Fukuyama Masaharu (39) and Shibasaki Koh (26) are to provide the theme song for the upcoming big screen adaptation of the successful TV drama series “Galileo.” The pair are reviving their roles, as a physics genius and a detective who combine their skills to catch a variety of criminals, for the movie “Yogisha X no Kenshin.” And with both having established music careers, collaborating on the movie’s theme song was a logical decision. Under the name Koh+, Koh will sing the ballad “Saiai,” which was written, composed and produced by Fukuyama. Though he has a long-established singing and acting career, this film is actually his first movie starring role. Directed by Nishitani Hiroshi, the movie will be in theaters from October 4.

Otakon Prep…

July 21, 2008 Leave a comment

Now let me just say.. that if I am going nuts over Otakon, it is because I am…pretty excited for it. Prepping for it in terms of getting a pseudo-cosplay ready.

Norimaki Arale – need the overalls, shirt and perhaps shoes. Have hat, poop.
Studio Ghibli fan- Have shirts, Teto plushie, shorts… ready…!
Other days will be dressed comfortably.

Roomie situation a-okay. Press pass.. need to scan id and send samples…

So for this year I am going by myself, because woefully _ Kero and 801megane has jumped out of the ship or left the building. Aya’s in the great and almighty Nippon and Herd’s…  he doesn’t want to go. So I still am catching a ride with Bellos and meeting up with Silent death.. so…. life is just grand… now for some Otakon fan swag.

One Piece 362 Musings..

July 18, 2008 Leave a comment

Logically I should be doing an episode review, complete with screen caps, but I can’t get over the fact of how cool Zolo’s sword fights are and how dramatically complicated they are. Dramatic in how flowery attack power phases being used. Flowery attack phrases.. hmm I guess if people would see series like Soul Eater, Bleach or Sakura Taisen, then there would be the usage of these phrases. It does seem funny to see how fansubs would translate it, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

As a fan I don’t get that anime exposure, other than the anime fansubs I download, so i am very grateful for fansubs being around.

Yep so in this episode.. Zolo fights with Brook’s shadow who’s body is a former famous swordsman, similar to Zolo. The amount of power is so cool looking, and the experessions of Franky and Brooks is comic relief.

Similarly in the previous episode with Ussop fighting Perona, let’s just do a big eww.. for the cockroaches.. as the episode ends, though Perona is scared to fainting point.
