Announcing March 2011’s Manga Movable Feast and a Call for Contribution

Manga Movable Feast also known as MMF is a monthly virtual book club of some sorts. Hosted on a different blog, a chosen title, series or work is blogged about in a one week period. The objective of any past present or future feast is to foster community, and promote a feast of discussion, analysis or written feelings from any participant for a chosen work. If you want to check out any of our past feasts, or participate in future feasts, take a look at our mailing list. This is already MMF’s second year, and as a participant I don’t see an end to this feast anytime soon.

These are the last two Feasts that was held recently:

  • February 2011: Barefoot Gen (Hosted by Sam Kusek, A Life in Panels)
  • December 2010: One Piece (Hosted by David Welsh, The Manga Curmudgeon)

For this month, I am quite please to announce March’s chosen title is Aria by Kouzue Amano. I am looking forward to much participation in this feast. This is my first time acting as host, and so Johanna wrote an insightful guide on what it takes to be running and participating in a feast.

The feast will be taking place around the week of March 20 to 26, so please look forward for discussion or submitting links around that time. I will for a week be posting daily roundups of what links were submitted that day.

I realize that MMF is a manga blogging project, but since Aria has made a successful crossover into three Anime seasons, and an OVA. I welcome and invite discussions from Anime bloggers as well. Any posts whether it is a review on the manga or anime series, discussion on characters, setting, effects, dynamics. Just anything you can find to discuss about it, it is welcome. Even if you have written about the series in the past, you can revisit this series, and share any new feelings about it. I certainly will be posting my own entries on topics I find relevant to this series.

If you would like to participate but don’t have a blog to write a piece on, I would happy to host guest pieces during this Feast. If there are any further questions or concerns, just email me at animemiz [at] gmail dot com otherwise you can Tweet me @animemiz.

Now if this is your first time picking up this series, here’s a brief background of the graphic novel. Aria’s genre is science fiction, and the recommended reading age of this series is for older teens. Its publication run in Japan concludes at 12 volumes. Aria has an interesting publication history in North America, so far it has been translated by two companies. ADV, and Tokyopop. This title is still incomplete in English, since there are only six volumes out so far, along with a prequel, known under a different name of Aqua.

Aria has successfully transitioned into having three animation seasons, an OVA and specials. Luckily for American fans, the animation series’s three seasons is licensed by Nozumi, an imprint of RightStuf. So please watch for this space for MMF to be underway.

You most certainly can, are there any new comments you can make on your post? If not then I will be noting that this is a reposted entry. I do see from your posts, that you appreciate music as well. Did you ever see the anime? Personally I like how soothing the soundtrack is. ^_^

Not really anything new if you want to mark it as a reposted entry that’s fine just let me know the what and how of I do this becuese I missed the boat last time with the One Piece MMF becuese I didn’t know how to send in a review.

Hmm.. well just copy, paste, the old post into a new post, and on the title say “REPOST so and so” That’s how I saw it with Reverse Thieves when they reposted an podcast they did for One Piece MMF. http://reversethieves.com/2010/11/30/repost-the-speakeasy-one-piece-podcast/

Also you don’t have to send me an email text of the actual blog entry itself. A link trade back is quite fine. Notice on this post, that there is a link directing readers from their blog to this post. So you can seriously just schedule your post to run again during the week of March 20-26th. I am actually going to set up a separate page on my blog, so you can keep on the look out for the page link.

Also a good way to remind yourself is Twitter. ^_^ I am right now posting frequently reminders about MMF coming up, sooner, and with the hashtag of #mmf, http://search.twitter.com/search?q=%23mmf if you keep an eye on it, and ignore all the other #mmf tweets, then that is a good way to be reminded. Or use Google calender.
